Sane Survivalism is a blog dedicated to just that: sane survivalism. Survivalists have a well-earned public image of being paranoid, right wing, conspiracy theorist, gun-hoarding men who boast constantly about how prepared they are for the apocalypse. For the most part, this has been fairly true in my experience.
What is a sane survivalist? A survivalist is someone with an above average desire to live and the willingness to make that happen. A sane survivalist is one who is just that, sane. And likely more successful. Many survivalists live daily lives of paranoia, spook and panic with every news report (and more likely than not lowering their life spans by doing so), plan only for the end-of-the-world-as-we-know it, ignore dangerous possibilities in their daily lives, view danger through a partisan lens, and imagine survival as being the last one standing. Some smoke, or are overweight, or stress themselves out to the point of possibly taking years off their lives.
A sane survivalist, on the other hand, should consider what is most likely to harm them and those they care about, educate themselves about the danger, and do something about it. A sane survivalist concerned about biochemical warfare wouldn’t just prepare a bug out bag but learn about the different chemicals, who might use them, and finally educate themselves on why. Understanding the events leading up to a possible war important for anticipating when such an attack might occur, as well as preventing that possibility as a voter and an individual capable of influencing the opinions of others. There are so many more aspects to surviving a disaster than most survivalists want to consider. We’re going to.
Here, we will discuss sane survivalism: preparation from the perspective of the average person (ie one who doesn’t have much money or time to invest in the future), mindsets, real dangers that are happening right now, misinformation, understanding threats, as well as arguing for survivalists to consider everything from helping their neighbor after a disaster to convincing the person next to them to survive. Learning and other materials will be suggested, as well. This blog does not pretend to be a source of expertise but instead a place for alerts, ideas, things to consider, suggestions, and anything else the few sane survivalists out there might need. Advice is a result of logic, verified information, and common sense. Guest writers, co-writers, and tips are welcome but no unverified (ie potentially false) survival information will be allowed here.

This is exactly the sort of thing we need, survivalists seem to get a lot of bad press so it’s nice to see a blog like this. Good luck with it!
